Great news for SEAM and the companies we work with. SEAM, based at South East Technological University (SETU) Waterford, has secured over €1.34 million in funding under Enterprise Ireland’s 2025 Capital Equipment Call to further enhance our advanced materials testing and characterisation capabilities.
The funding, announced by Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, will support the addition of two important new capabilities at SEAM:
- €1,190,000 has been approved for replacement & upgrades of suite of equipment for Non destructive inspection, Metrology and Reverse Engineering. This funding with further strengthen our ability to support industry with advanced inspection, validation, and failure analysis—without damaging or altering components.
- Additional €149,903 has been approved for procuring Ultra-High-Definition Smart Digital Microscopy. This expands SEAM’s current microscopy capabilities by delivering higher-resolution materials analysis and faster, more accurate insight during product development and troubleshooting.
These new investments will further enhance SEAM’s ability to deliver practical, near-to-market research solutions for Irish industry, particularly SMEs across manufacturing, materials, engineering, and advanced technology sectors.
The Capital Equipment Call, managed by Enterprise Ireland, ensures Technology Gateways like SEAM continue to provide companies with access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure. For industry partners, this means reduced development risk, shorter innovation timelines, and faster routes from idea to market.
This latest funding further strengthens SEAM’s role as a trusted innovation partner, supporting collaboration between industry and academia and helping businesses across the South East and beyond remain competitive.
